9 June 2011 – Gent, Belgium – Enfocus announce exciting news for users of PitStop Pro 10 and PitStop Server 10! Update 2 is now available for PitStop Pro 10 and PitStop Server 10, and includes new features to automatically optimize even complex PDF documents for seamless use with e-reader applications on the iPad and other tablet devices.

"Viewing PDF files on tablet devices has not always been a straightforward task. While they have become increasingly important within printing and publishing workflows, these devices can have limitations that cause lengthy delays when opening non-optimized PDF files. Incorrectly formatted PDFs can even crash the e-reader application," explains Elli Cloots, Director of Product Management at Enfocus."With update 2 of PitStop Pro 10 and PitStop Server 10, users can quickly and easily repurpose PDF files for deployment across a wide variety of e-reader devices."

Standardized, quality PDF files for e-reader applications
Update 2 of PitStop Pro 10 and PitStop Server 10 offers all users e-reader specific processing capabilities through the standard Enfocus Preflight Profiles and Action Lists interface. This allows them to choose parameters such as the overall file resolution, and to optimize the PDF for faster and more consistent e-reader viewing. Zoom into an Enfocus-optimized PDF using an e-reader application, and the images and text will keep the required image quality and level of interactivity. Update 2 will also check live URLs within the PDF to ensure that they are linked to a website.

Enfocus worked closely with key customers to develop features that addressed the most critical issues for e-reader compatibility, with particular focus on the popular iPad device. Instead of a time-consuming process of manual inspection at the production side, quality PDF files can now be made suitable for viewing on any e-reader, giving the user a more enjoyable experience.

This is an important new direction for Enfocus, says Cloots. These features have been developed at the request of several major publishing companies and reflect the ability of Enfocus to provide the necessary tools to make our customers more productive. As our customers' requirements change, Enfocus will continue to develop solutions to ensure those needs are met. E-readers and new media applications have become increasingly more important to our customers, and we are committed to continue to update our software to keep pace.

PitStop Pro 10 and PitStop Server 10 were released in October 2010, and included powerful PDF editing and preflighting, color management and collaborative working tools. Update 1, announced in February 2011, added support for Adobe® Acrobat® X Standard and Pro, and compatibility with the latest PDF/X-4:2010 and PDF/A ISO standards. Update 2 reflects Enfocus' continuing commitment to ensure timely and mission critical features are released whenever possible in a product update.
